Whimsical colored pencil drawings

Creative Process:

I am an opera singer, burlesque performer, and shadow puppeteer. My performances inspire my drawings in many ways. Some are based on costume designs, or they may tell a story or be a drawing of pure music. Many of my smallest pieces are reverential drawings of birds and bugs which I try to depict as realistically as possible with colored pencil on decorative papers that I’ve treated with pastel medium. The pastel medium provides a very toothy surface that lends itself to drawing in a painterly manner.
