Four words to describe your process:
Painting and Mixed Media
Creative Process:
In my oil paintings, purely painted and painted over photographed images become hard to distinguish from each other, representing in method the melding together of facts, dreams, perceptions, and memories.
My series of “Library Spirit” sculptures are made of books, paper-mache and wood, “bringing words to life”, meditations on mortality/immortality through reading and writing, evoking the animation of ideas.
My series of “Muertos Animales” and Skeleton Boxes honors and gives tribute to Mexican Dia de los Muertos art traditions. I paint and alter plastic forms, putting them on small pedestals and filling the ribcage with tiny LED lights. They are meant to light your way through all kinds of darkness.
